Sightseeing
Fans of old monuments can choose a tour of historic places - from the Cathedral through the Old Market with its Renaissance burgher houses, the Town Hall and the Fara church which is a pearl of Baroque architecture. Next to Poznan International Fair grounds there are lovely art-deco tenant houses, the old Palm House and the old ZOO.
The city boats a wide array of museums, galleries, beautiful churches and impressive architecture. Manor houses in Kórnik and Rogalin are in the vicinity of Poznań and should not be missed. Historic Gniezno, the seat of the Primate of Roman Catholic Church in Poland is a must to see.
Nature lovers will enjoy the prospect of visiting two zoological gardens, a botanical garden and arboretum and numerous nicely landscaped green parks and neighbouring nature reserves and lakes. The favourite open green parks in Poznan are the Cytadela with famous Magdalena Abakanowicz’s sculpture installation, the new ZOO and Malta Lake.
Malta Lake offers much to sports and culture lovers. The area around the lake is an attractive place to go for a walk, ride a bike, swim or do some roller skating. Its skiing slope is open all year round. Malta Lake hosts international rowing championships.
